Reasons why a boudoir shoot might seem expensive to you.
Expensive is a very ambiguous term. Only if you take into consideration everything that you are paying for, and still think the package cost is not justified, then you can call it expensive. When you think something is expensive, add ‘to what’ after that and you will get the right answer. When a boudoir shoot package is formed, many things are involved. We are listing few that you can apply to any of your shoot or photographer to check whether this is right cost or not.
Experience of the Photographer
You are not just booking a man with a camera, but a photographer with years of experience. Moreover, this experience is going to reflect in your pictures. Experience of a photographer is one the important factors to see before booking a boudoir photographer.
Knowledge and Skills of the Photographer
When you book a photographer with deep knowledge and skill set, you are going to see a totally different result in your photographs as compared when you book any amateur. As it is not all about technicality or lighting but to capture the sensuality the right way.
You Get What You Pay for
You might be able to find many photographers who are willing to do the shoot at a lesser rate than what you are offered by your few selected photographers but you have to remember the adage – that in the end, you are going to get what you pay for. Even though prices alone don’t determine the quality of the results you’re going to get, it’s highly recommended to do your research and make sure that whatever photographer you are hiring is worth his/her pricing.
Picasso Pablo Principle of Art (For Boudoir Photography)
We came across this story somewhere and we thought of sharing with everyone. This story tells how on what factor an artist’s price is based.
“It’s you — Picasso, the great artist! Oh, you must sketch my portrait! I insist.”
So Picasso agreed to sketch her. After studying her for a moment, he used a single pencil stroke to create her portrait. He handed the women his work of art.
“It’s perfect!” she gushed. “You managed to capture my essence with one stroke, in one moment. Thank you! How much do I owe you?”
“Five thousand dollars,” the artist replied.
“B-b-but, what?” the woman sputtered. “How could you want so much money for this picture? It only took you a second to draw it!”
To which Picasso responded, “Madame, it took me my entire life.”
Saves You From Future Disappointment
Just because you thought it’s expensive and you are finding other cheap packages, you end up sacrificing the quality at that time. However, later you realize that you’re not as happy with the result as you expected, and then you spend double or more than double to get the desired pictures either. Either going for a second photo-shoot done from a different photographer, or by sending your pictures to an experienced retoucher, who can try to give some magic to your otherwise dull pictures.
Being a retoucher myself, I get a lot of post-processing requests from many such women, from all over the world, whose boudoir session has disappointed them. So try not to think much about what budget you have fixed in your mind; if the photographer’s work is what you have been looking for all the time, make an informed decision and book who you want. In the long run, you will realize that it was a hell of a good decision.
Quality of Makeup and Styling
There is a wide range of makeup artist and stylist. If you are paying little extra, it may be because those are also an experts form their field – just like your photographer. The products used by the makeup artist and stylist will also be from a good brand, something that you would love to touch your skin or something they just made in their garage laboratory. (Later part is just a joke)
Pictures versus Art
A photographer without a passion in his heart is going to give just pictures but a passionate and talented photographer is going to give you a piece of art in the form of pictures. Which one would you like to hang on your bedroom’s wall?
As boudoir shoot is done in the privacy of a bedroom, it’s very important to get a good place for this shoot – a place that makes the client comfortable and at ease. Such good places generally come at a cost. There is a fine line between vulgar boudoir shoot and artistic boudoir shoot. A real boudoir photographer will know how not to cross that line.
Difference between Good and Best
This is quite obvious, you can get many similar products but you know there is always a difference between good and best and in the end, you have to decide what you want.
You can use these points to determine the right price of any other type of photography. Let me know if there is any point that I have missed. Thank you so much for reading.
